We are looking for a creative and commercial individual with a love of product to join a leading gift brand as their Mid Weight Product Developer.

This exciting role involves working closely with international vendors, leading retailers, and internal teams from pitch to production, to create trend led and innovate products for leading retailers worldwide. The successful applicant will be an ideas person who is highly organised, proactive and a great team player.

Responsibilities in this Mid Weight Product Developer role include:

  • Identifying key trends / gaps in the market for new product development opportunities
  • Generating new product ideas based on market research and comp shops
  • Create comprehensive briefs for design and content teams where product changes are required
  • Work with Production & PD Manager to select best factories by product

  • Helping to identify product improvements and customer line lists alongside Account Managers
  • Managing the product from concept through to sample sign off, handing over to production once this process is complete
  • Supporting the Senior PD on critical path management throughout the production stages
  • Attending customer meetings with the sales team as required to discuss new concepts, product feedback, and future ranges
  • Briefing factories clearly with product specification generating costs comparisons based on this and negotiating pricing
  • Creating and reviewing product, packaging, and artwork specifications to be sent to the factory
  • Proof-checking artwork; ensuring the contents, product imagery, barcodes, product codes and batch codes are all correct
  • Ensuring all pre-production and production samples are organised and signed off internally and externally
  • Support sustainability efforts, understand the supplier capabilities and the customers current requirements
  • Comp shopping on a regular basis to check own product in-store and keep an eye on the competition

Skills and experience required:

  • 3+ years product development experience within a wholesale capacity
  • Background developing commercial products with major retailers
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, developing large ranges
  • Excited by creating and delivering fresh and commercial ideas
  • Strong understanding of costs, production and delivery requirements
  • Skilled at working across multiple projects at any one time
  • Experience developing directly with Far East factories
  • Proactive, flexible, and friendly!
