We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide exceptional support to our students in a Further Education college. This role involves working closely with students on an individual and small group basis, facilitating their learning and helping them achieve their educational goals.Learning Support AssistantJob Type: Full-time (36 hours a week)Contract: Permanent Location: TwickenhamSalary: £19,412 to £20,560 Day to day of the role:

  • Work with students one-to-one or in small groups to support their learning needs.
  • Act as a note-taker and engage in discussions to clarify subject matter for students.
  • Assist in collating information and explaining concepts to aid student understanding.
  • Encourage and assist students in producing assignments and adhering to course deadlines.
  • Support students in practical workshops and ensure they can access all areas of the site.
  • Supervise students during breaks and lunch periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Accompany and support students during educational trips and visits. Conduct formal termly reviews and maintain accurate records of students’ progress.
  • Provide travel training to students for their commute between home, college, and work placements.
  • Assess students’ abilities and match them with suitable job opportunities.
  • Liaise with employers to negotiate individual requirements for student placements.
  • Offer on-the-job coaching, assessment monitoring, and support to both students and employers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good standard of education including Maths and English, preferably minimum of GCSE Grade C
  • Experience working with SEND students is desirable though not necessary
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and Written Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Commitment to personal development and the enhancement of professional skills.
  • Proficiency in IT and willingness to develop further IT skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A proactive approach to promoting the college’s ethos and participating in its activities.
