Speech and Language Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting learners to access and engage with their chosen curriculum effectively. You will work closely with students and teaching teams, addressing communication, social, and behavioural needs in various settings.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct comprehensive Speech and Language therapy assessments and develop person-centred interventions to aid learners in accessing and developing functional skills across the curriculum.
  • Understand and address the impact of communication difficulties on an individual’s function and behaviour.
  • Facilitate the transfer of skills developed at the college to learners’ home environments and community/work settings.
  • Enhance the capability of teaching and support staff to deliver the curriculum at an appropriate language and communication level through the creation of support plans, staff training, coaching, and class observations.
  • Collaborate effectively with learners' families and carers, as well as with specialist community health and social care teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Proven experience in special educational settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young people and adults with complex needs, including Autism and profound multiple learning disabilities.
