Our client, a forward thinking independent firm of Chartered Accountants are seeking a Payroll Supervisor for their office in Uckfied, East Sussex.

This will initially be a 12 month Fixed Term Contract however due to the team continually growing there is potential for the role to become permanent.

You will be working within a small, friendly department, operating managing the weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Duties Include:-

  • Liaising with clients and entering payroll data from start to finish accurately
  • Reconciling payroll to client data, getting client approval as appropriate and issuing payroll reports & payslips
  • Preparing payroll journals
  • Reconciling weekly and monthly PAYE figures
  • Preparing BACS files
  • Reviewing the work of junior team members
  • Administering Pension Auto-enrolment including making appropriate declarations to The Pensions Regulator.
  • Producing and distributing pension scheme returns, including notification of changes in members’ status and uploading to pension provider
  • Dealing effectively with queries from clients and HMRC
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new clients

This practice has its own bespoke software which you will be trained on, although experience of computerised payroll software would be an advantage.

You will ideally have a payroll qualification such as CIPP or working towards this and have a good working knowledge of payroll processes, including PAYE, NI, family leave, SSP and Pensions, preferably with experience of working for another firm of chartered accountants or within a payroll bureau.

This is a full time role, Monday to Friday around 36/37 hours per week with the option to work hybrid after the intial probationary period, with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
