Social Worker - Community Learning Disabilities Team - East Sussex County Council

Join our dedicated Community Learning Disabilities team at East Sussex County Council and make a real difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Social Worker to join our supportive team.

About the Role:

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work directly with adults with learning disabilities, their carers, and families within the community. You will play a crucial role in supporting individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives. This role requires you to be in the office 1 day a week, with the rest of your time spent in the community. You will be undertaking reviews, safeguarding investigations and community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Case Management: Undertake a range of tasks including investigating adult safeguarding issues, conducting assessments of need, analysis and planning, assessing and managing risk, commissioning support, and conducting reviews.
  • Safeguarding Expertise: Identify and appropriately report children and adult safeguarding concerns, liaising with key agencies to gather information and acting as Investigating Officer as delegated.
  • Legal Frameworks: Work with a range of legal interventions and departmental policies and procedures to support outcome-based planning for adults.
  • Person-Centred Support: Work directly with adults in need, carers, families, and their communities to support people to make informed decisions and choices, empowering them to express needs and participate in the decision-making process.
  • Community Integration: Work with partner agencies, adults in need, and their carers and families to enable them to build networks of community support and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
  • Accurate Record Keeping: Maintain good case recording and present reports to panels and in court as appropriate.
  • Community DoLS: Completing community DoLS.

  • You are a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • You have experience working with adults with learning disabilities.

  • You are able to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • You are experienced in completing safeguarding investigations.
  • You have experience with community DoLS.
