SUMMARY

As a Buyer/Scheduler, you will play a pivotal role in our procurement process by sourcing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational needs. Your responsibilities will encompass MRP scheduling and buying, supplier management, negotiation, and ensuring the business secures the best quality and pricing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and procure materials, goods, and services to meet production needs; driven by MRP demand.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Monitor purchasing operations to comply with current quality standards securing compliance and embedding these standards into everyday practice
  • Ensure strategic free-issue parts are controlled and held available for supplier requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure forward project costings are maintained to maintain project margins.
  • Resolve any issues related to orders, such as delays or quality problems.
  • Communicate any supply problems with Operations, that may impact manufacturing.
  • Interface with Operations and Projects on new product introduction.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock assessments.
  • Implement inventory control measures to reduce excess stock and minimise shortages.
  • Coordinate with stores teams to manage incoming and outgoing materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Supply Chain Management Qualification, or Degree educated or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, or willing to complete.

EXPERIENCE

Understanding of purchasing and supply chain.

Experience required of working with an ERP system, specifically MRP

Experience in a similar global industry role

They will be proactive, analytical, result orientated and willing to take on new challenges. They will also have the ability to build good working relationships with people at all levels internally and externally, and able to work to tight deadlines.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organisational skills and capable of working to tight deadlines.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Whilst hybrid working is operational within this role with a mix of office and remote working, the role is predominately office based to support on-site manufacturing.
