Automotive Production Manager

Location: Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Igloo is seeking an experienced and proactive Automotive Production Manager to lead the workshop operations at our client’s Upper Heyford site. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth running of all technical activities, maintaining high standards of quality and productivity, and delivering exceptional service to our client’s customers.

The Role:

  • Oversee daily operational planning for the technical department, ensuring all deadlines and targets are met.
  • Monitor department efficiency and productivity, implementing control measures to improve output and quality.
  • Manage stock levels, purchasing, and cost-effective repair methods, conducting regular stock checks.
  • Organise and monitor equipment maintenance, calibration, and compliance with operating standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all operating procedures and standards, addressing any audit findings effectively.
  • Lead and manage complex projects, liaising with suppliers for materials and consumables.
  • Provide regular communication to team members, promoting awareness of performance and expectations.
  • Assess training needs and develop action plans to support team development.
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic records in line with organisational standards.
  • Contribute to safety, housekeeping, and energy efficiency initiatives to meet company objectives.

The Person:

  • Experience working in a busy body shop or production environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A focus on quality and a ‘right first time’ approach.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel & Outlook.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
