Location: Manchester (with regional projects primarily in the Northwest)

About the Company:

A specialist civils contractor renowned for delivering fast food retail developments, predominantly for clients such as McDonald's, Burger King, Costa etc. Our projects encompass new builds, conversions of existing buildings, and occasionally demolition. Delivering high-quality groundworks and civils solutions in fast-paced environments. Looking to expand the commercial team and are currently seeking an experienced Civils Biased Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join a dynamic team in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

Quantity Surveying: Responsible for managing all aspects of cost and contract administration on civils and groundworks projects, including the preparation of estimates, cost plans, valuations, and final accounts.

Groundworks & Demolition: Ensure thorough understanding of and involvement in groundworks and demolition works required for fast food retail developments.

Project Management Support: Support the Commercial Director in managing the project financials, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Client Liaison: Main point of contact for the client (primarily McDonald's) and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and smooth progress on-site.

Contract Administration: Oversee contract performance, including monitoring of costs, payments, variations, and claims.

Cost Control & Budgeting: Responsible for preparing cost reports, maintaining cost control systems, and managing procurement processes.

Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Modular Builds: Work on modular builds as required, ensuring seamless integration with traditional builds.

Site Visits & Reporting: Regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure quality standards are met.

Fast-Paced Projects: Work across multiple, fast-paced projects with values up to £2 million, typically lasting 13-16 weeks.

Skills & Experience:

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the civils sector, with a strong focus on groundworks and fast food retail projects (McDonald's experience is desirable but not essential).

Civils Knowledge: Solid understanding and experience in managing groundworks and civils packages, including foundations, drainage, and utilities.

Demolition Knowledge: Experience in managing demolition works on retail or commercial projects.

Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs effectively and deliver projects within budget.

Software: Proficient in the use of industry-standard QS software, Excel, and other project management tools.

Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with project managers, site teams, and the commercial team to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Organised & Proactive: Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Qualifications: Ideally degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a relevant field, with a professional membership (e.g., RICS) preferred but not essential.
