Job Overview:

Our client is looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join their team in Uttoxeter. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems for various industrial applications. You will work closely with clients to deliver tailored solutions that enhance operational efficiency and productivity.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems tailored to client specifications and industry standards.
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for diverse applications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, software engineers, and field technicians to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Perform system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and process flow diagrams.
  • Conduct site surveys and client meetings to gather requirements and provide technical expertise.
  • Monitor and analyse system performance, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in control technology and industry trends.
  • Thoroughly test the software and solve any problems.
  • Keep records of changes to software.
  • The testing stages are:Internal testingFactory Acceptance TestsSite Acceptance Tests
  • Commission hardware and software on site with assistance where necessary
  • Provide continuing support and trouble-shoot any problems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in controls engineering, particularly within a systems integration environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) and familiarity with HMI/SCADA software.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions and teamwork.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance regulations relevant to industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for designing control panels and system layouts.
