MECHANICAL COST ESTIMATOR

The client, a rapidly growing SME Mechanical Engineering specialist, is seeking a Cost Estimator to work across 2 areas of the business. You will be working on both reactive & PPM Mechanical & Electrical projects, predominatelywithin the public sector including schools, hospitals, social housing & prisons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors
  • Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
  • Assessing the risk levels associated with a project
  • Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done
  • Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers
  • Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs

Key Skillset:

  • The Estimator should have a background in Mechanical, Electrical or ICA equipment and services
  • Experience working with Local Authority/Central Government contracts
  • The Estimator will have the ability to evaluate proposals from the supply chain for MEICA equipment including scope of supply, technical compliance, and commercial offer.
  • The Estimator will have good communication skills
  • The Estimator will be computer literate with a good understanding of appropriate software packages.
  • The Estimator will be able to integrate well into a team as well as work independently.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Must be able to plan and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Excellent client service focus with flexible approach to work.
  • Proactive in approach to work
  • Full UK driving licence
