Internal Merchant Sales Representative

My client is undergoing significant growth and is now looking for an additional Internal Sales Representative to join their internal sales team. The role involves selling insulation, drylining, and associated products to merchant and buying group channels. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising opportunities from an existing ledger and creating business with new customers to achieve monthly sales and margin targets.

Day to Day responsibilities of the role:

  • Increase revenue streams from existing customers and source new customer business through proactive outgoing phone calls.
  • Work closely with the Branch Manager and external sales team to obtain and convert enquiries into profitable orders.
  • Ensure regular and prompt communication regarding existing orders, quotes, and other enquiries.
  • Exceed customer expectations to become the supplier of choice.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrate good product knowledge and the ability to cross-sell and up-sell.
  • Manage margins and maintain strong sales administration disciplines, including quote management and CRM system upkeep.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Adaptable, self-driven, and team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, organisational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organise, and prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident, resilient, and target-driven with a focus on acquiring new business and supporting existing clients.
  • Demonstrable record of managing margins and meeting established sales targets.
  • Experience in sales, particularly within insulation or drylining systems.
  • Experience working with national merchants, independent merchants, buying groups, main contractors, or specialist sub-contractors is desirable.
  • Experience of holding a minimum annual sales budget of £1m p.a.
  • Proficiency in sales administration and CRM systems.
