We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Foundation Studies at our further education establishment. This role is crucial for ensuring the retention and achievement of students through exemplary teaching and learning practices. The successful candidate will be involved in the teaching and development of a range of subjects within the Foundation Studies curriculum.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach across various courses within the School of Foundation Studies, focusing on Access to FE programmes.
  • Prepare students for Edexcel and City and Guilds portfolios and Functional Skills exams.
  • Direct and collaborate with Learning Support Assistants within the classroom.
  • Participate in residential trips and activity days related to Foundation Studies.
  • Engage in recruitment activities, including open evenings, to ensure accurate information and guidance is provided to potential applicants.
  • Conduct student inductions and academic progress reviews.
  • Design and deliver engaging lesson plans, schemes of work, and resource materials.
  • Liaise with examination boards and integrate IT and e-learning technologies into the curriculum.
  • Track learners’ progress and achievement, ensuring they are prepared for employability and further education.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in the relevant subject area (or a minimum of Level 3 qualification in a relevant area plus at least 2 years of successful teaching experience in Foundation Studies.)
  • Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, or willingness and ability to obtain this qualification.
  • Extensive subject-based and pedagogic knowledge in Foundation Studies.
  • Experience in teaching and preparing students for Edexcel and City and Guilds qualifications.
  • Proficiency in using IT and e-learning technologies for educational purposes.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage course materials and coordinate with examination boards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to recruitment and marketing strategies.
