Q - Are you looking for a full academic year of experience working alongside children who struggle to communicate and express their feelings?

If so, this Graduate Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language support role will be perfect for you!

We are working with a Primary School in Hillingdon who are looking for caring and compassionate graduates who have a true passion for working with students who need additional support. You will be supporting students who are non-verbal, pre-verbal and those who have limited speech so, you will be using well known methods including Art, Music and Creative therapy. This will be using resources such as picture cards, speech therapy apps and painting/drawing

You will be able to shadow professionals such as Speech and Language, Art and Music Therapists as they come to the school on a routine basis. This will allow you to get some insight into their line of work and get some tips for your upcoming career. Your role will include continuing their improvement plans throughout the school day. You will receive excellent training and support, as well as having the opportunity to work in specialist settings such as the sensory room & nurture room. You will have access to all the training, resources and materials to ensure the children thrive with your support.

  • Graduate Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language support
  • Working with EYFS, KS1 & KS2 (Ages 5-11)
  • Supporting students mainly on 1:1 basis working on their speech and language
  • Shadowing professionals such as Speech and Language, Art and Music professionals
  • Working closely with SEN students including Non - Verbal, Pre - Verbal and those who have limited communication.
  • Use creative and imaginative ways to communicate and build rapports with the students
  • To support the lead teacher with resources and basic behaviour management
  • Following set personalised plans to improve the students speech and language skills
  • Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm
  • 29,000 - 33,000 per annum
  • September 2024 start (for full academic year)
  • Located in Hillingdon
  • Full - Time, Long Term

Candidate Specification - Graduate Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language support

  • Bright graduate who has a 2:1 or 1st class degree
  • Strong GCSE and A-Level grades
  • Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health
  • Enthusiasm and creative to be able to inspire children with learning
  • The ability to write cogently and fluently with correct spelling and punctuation
  • Patience, kindness, flexibility, good humour and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Professional attitude and approach to work
