RT27 - Lecturer in Computing - SecuritySalary: £32,455 - £45,260 Per AnnumLocation: UxbridgeOverviewFirst Military Recruitment are seeking a full time Lecturer to join one of our prestigious clients and deliver across a range of Computing courses, with Security specialism. You will possess a degree in a Computing subject and will have some teaching experience including delivery of BTEC programmes Level 2 - 5. You will have knowledge and experience of Virtual Box (or equivalent) or Operating Systems Configuration (Windows and Linux). You will also have knowledge and experience of either IT Security or IT Systems Support.You will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage young people aged 16-19. If you do not already possess a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, the College will support you to achieve this.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full time - 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
  • Teach across a variety of Computing and IT programmes from Level 2 to Level 5.
  • Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
  • Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
  • Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and oral.
  • To ensure that students attend and achieve on all areas of their study programmes including maths, English and work experience.
  • Attend team meetings and College events as directed by managers.
  • Keep records up-to-date, including the completion of registers, and other required documentation.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure that new members of staff are fully apprised of requirements.
  • Promote Equal Opportunities and implement the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Provide a secure, safe and friendly learning environment including implementation of College’s Health & Safety Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
  • Understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation and ensure that best practice is embedded in all working practices as required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject area
  • Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET), or willing to achieve a Level 5 qualification, supported by the College.
  • Knowledge and experience of either IT Security or IT Systems Support.
  • Knowledge and experience of Virtual Box (or equivalent) or Operating Systems Configuration (Windows, Linux).
  • Teaching experience in the relevant subject area, including BTEC Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
  • Up to date knowledge of recent initiatives/developments in Computing and IT.
  • Experience of working in the IT/Computing industry.
  • Ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16-19.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Good administrative/organisational skills.
