Job Purpose:
The Teaching Assistant will work alongside the class teacher to support the education and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role involves providing tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, and assisting in the personal and academic development of students.

Key Responsibilities:
Support for Learning:

Assist in the delivery of lessons, ensuring that students are engaged and learning effectively.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with tasks, instructions, and ensuring they understand the lesson content.
Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
Classroom Management:

Help to maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.
Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policies.
Encourage students to take part in class activities and offer additional support when needed.
Personal Care and Well-being Support:

Provide personal care support for students, including assistance with mobility, feeding, or any other specific care requirements.
Ensure the health and safety of all students, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff members.
Collaboration with Teachers and Staff:

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor the progress of students and adjust support strategies as needed.
Assist in setting up learning resources and materials.
Take part in meetings and professional development activities to support continuous improvement in practice.
Monitoring and Reporting:

Assist in the monitoring of student progress and provide feedback to the teacher on student's achievements.
Keep records of student's progress and help with assessments as required.
Professional Development:

Attend relevant training and development opportunities.
Stay informed about best practices in supporting students with SEN.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience:
Experience working with children or young people, especially those with special educational needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathy and patience.
Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Desirable Qualifications:
A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
Training in SEN or relevant experience in a similar role.
Safeguarding:
The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and will need to adhere to the school's safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.
