Solution Architect

Solution Architect required to join an educational institution based in Middlesex. The successful candidate will work across a range of programmes, enabling and guiding the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future needs. This role involves defining solutions to complex business problems and driving transformational change of applications, ensuring compatibility with relevant architectures, strategies, policies, principles, standards, and practices.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Develop innovative methods for exploiting new and existing platform capabilities.
  • Lead the development of solution architectures in specific business or functional areas.
  • Take the lead role in the analysis of project requirements and the development of appropriate business and IT architectures.
  • Provide guidance and risk-based governance to support solution implementation.
  • Chair the IT Technical Design Authority (TDA).
  • Support projects with assurance to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Own the product architecture for the project portfolio, developing product roadmaps and designs.
  • Work with technical teams to support the design development and delivery.
  • Present proposed designs at governance forums to gain approval.
  • Implement architecture patterns and create reference architectures.
  • Undertake structured analysis of technical issues, translating this analysis into technical designs.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy and understand how the architecture supports this.
  • Plan and coordinate the analysis, design, development, implementation, and testing of all IT projects.
  • Act as a bridge between the College and technology suppliers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience within working in Education
  • Proven experience in solution architecture across multiple platforms within an enterprise technical environment.
  • Experience in building architecture strategy and best practices.
  • Knowledge of architecture standards such as TOGAF.
  • Ability to create ‘fit for purpose’ technology solutions by understanding and interpreting business processes.
  • Broad knowledge of technology, ideally with experience in virtualised environments.
  • Track record of influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and interest in emerging technology trends.
  • Experience in implementing ‘best management practice’ standards and frameworks.
  • Ability to analyse problems and data, presenting solutions and information to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of applying architectural principles across business applications, infrastructure, and cloud technologies.
