Design and Technology Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Design and Technology Technician to join our secondary school team. The core purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the curriculum in the Design & Technology (D&T) department. This involves maintaining tools, equipment, and materials safely and ensuring they are ready for use. The successful candidate will also support students on a practical level under the supervision of the class teacher.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare materials and equipment for D&T lessons, ensuring all resources are safe and ready for student use.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly D&T environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the management of stock, ordering supplies as needed and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
  • Support the subject leader in the smooth running of the department.
  • Provide practical assistance to students during lessons, under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of D&T machinery and tools.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement curriculum materials and resources.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A keen interest in design and technology.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
  • Experience in handling and maintaining D&T equipment and tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support students’ learning.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of the department.
