Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Special Needs Teacher, you will:

Plan and Deliver Tailored Lessons: Design individualised lesson plans and adapt the curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student.

Support Holistic Development: Foster academic, social, and emotional growth, ensuring that every child feels valued and included.

Implement and Monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external specialists to develop and review IEPs.

Create a Positive Learning Environment: Build a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture where all students can thrive.

Assess and Track Progress: Regularly evaluate and document student achievements, providing clear feedback to parents and stakeholders.

Employ Specialist Strategies: Use a range of teaching techniques and resources tailored to different learning needs and disabilities.

Promote Inclusion: Advocate for a culture of understanding and acceptance within the wider school community.
To excel in this role, you will need:

A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

A relevant SEN qualification or substantial experience working with children with special needs.

Strong understanding of learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and other developmental challenges.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Patience, empathy, and resilience to navigate the challenges and celebrate the successes of teaching SEN students.

Familiarity with assistive technologies and alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECs) is a plus.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Empathy and Understanding: A genuine ability to connect with children and understand their individual needs.
