Salary: Paid to Unqualified scale

We are currently seeking an Unqualified SEN Teacher to join a vibrant and nurturing special needs school, supporting pupils with a range of needs across all age groups.

About the Role:

As an Unqualified SEN Teacher, you will work closely with experienced teaching staff and support teams to deliver high-quality, tailored lessons that engage and inspire students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and deliver individualised teaching and learning plans across the school.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the specific needs of pupils.
  • Create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Work collaboratively with SEN professionals, teaching assistants, therapists, and parents/carers.
  • Contribute to the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, behaviour, and development.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional growth alongside academic learning.
  • Be proactive in adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles.

Who We’re Looking For:

We welcome applications from individuals with a genuine passion for SEN and education - formal teaching qualifications are not required for this role, although relevant experience is a plus.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • A strong interest in working with children and young people with special needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD).
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, nurturing approach.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience and flexibility to adapt to changing needs and situations.
  • A team player who is keen to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an SEN setting (as a TA, LSA, or support worker).
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and inclusive teaching strategies.
