Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Hillingdon Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of 18.95 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Direct Payments Officer this role will be: UB8 1UW (Hybrid)

The right candidate will:

  • As a Direct Payments Officer, you will be working alongside our wider Social Care teams.
  • You will be responsible for promoting the use of Direct payment as a solution to having a care package to meet their assessed needs. You will be critical in advising and supporting residents and staff across Children and Adult services in the process and management of Direct Payments.
  • To support residents to access and implement care and support within their Personal Budget to maximise their independence, meet their identified outcomes and promote their wellbeing.
  • To provide information, advice and support to residents regarding all aspects of direct payments, including their responsibilities and their financial obligations.
  • Administration and monitoring of individuals Direct Payments to ensure residents have the required funds and use these appropriately to purchase their assessed care and support needs.
  • To undertake payment run on a 4-weekly basis.
  • Your role will include in person or virtual visits to direct payments recipients' homes to inform them of the direct payments service including providing advice and guidance.
  • To calculate the direct payment for direct payments receipt and liaise with the social care teams to gain authorisation for the funds.
  • Reconcile Direct Payments accounts and reclaim any unspent funds.

We require the following:

  • Some experience of working in Social Services, voluntary sector or Health.
  • Experience of managing accounts and working out care costs.
  • Experience of working in a front-line service as part of a team to deliver a high quality service to residents.
  • The post holder should have full UK Driving Licence and be able to visit service users living in the community to conduct financial reviews.
