An exciting role awaits a highly experienced and enthusiastic Senior Engineer (Software SDA) to lead a team as the Design Authority. This position involves working on the in-board aspects of Sonar processing and display software, sensor data acquisition sub-systems, and wider aspects of submarine combat systems development. The role is primarily focused on Maritime systems but has the potential to expand into other associated domains. You will be involved from initial concept to customer acceptance of highly complex systems, ensuring all design requirements are met.

As a Senior Engineer (Software SDA), you will be responsible for requirements analysis, software design and development, system/software engineering, acceptance, technical governance, and mentoring the design team. You will work closely with software, systems, hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineers to develop multi-discipline solutions, including defining software-hardware and software-firmware interfaces. Your role will also involve overseeing design activities at various levels, ensuring rigorous test procedures are in place, and meeting technical requirements through all phases of design, integration, and customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:
Your duties as the Senior Engineer (Software SDA) will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Software design, development, and review for a range of Sonar-related systems.
2. Collaborate with multi-discipline engineers to develop comprehensive solutions.
3. Oversee design activities at equipment, system, and software levels.
4. Ensure technical requirements are met through all design phases.
5. Provide technical governance and act as Design Authority or independent reviewer.
6. Support projects, bids, and product development activities as the Software lead.
7. Offer technical guidance on engineering software design solutions.
8. Resolve technical, project, or resource problems in collaboration with Project Managers and other Design Authorities.
9. Mentor project personnel in software development.
10. Support research and development to improve engineering quality, efficiency, and cost.

Candidate Profile:
1. Degree in a related engineering discipline or relevant experience.
2. Proven industry experience in Sonar systems and software development.
3. In-depth knowledge of software design and development.
4. Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as C++, Java, and Linux-based systems.
5. Ability to manage engineering risks and deliver complex software systems.
