Key Responsibilities as a Bodyshop Prepper:
- Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and mask vehicle surfaces to prepare them for painting. Remove rust, grease, dirt, and old paint.
- Masking & Taping: Carefully tape and cover areas of vehicles not to be painted, such as windows, trim, and lights.
- Body Filler Application: Apply and sand down body filler as needed to smooth out dents, scratches, or imperfections.
- Priming: Apply primer to repaired surfaces to ensure they are ready for painting.
- Quality Control: Inspect prepped surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards before handing them over to the painter.
- Paint Mixing: Assist in mixing paint colors to match the original color of the vehicle.
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Keep the body shop clean and maintain all tools and equipment used in the prepping process.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and ensure the work area is safe and free from hazards.
- Experience: Prior experience as a Bodyshop Prepper or in an automotive body repair environment is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to work with hand and power tools.
- Knowledge: Understanding of automotive repair processes, paint preparation techniques, and sanding methods.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with painters, body technicians, and other team members.
- Attention to Detail: High standards of accuracy and an eye for perfection in surface preparation.
