Hays Healthcare is actively recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Band 7 (Non -medical prescriber) for a Crisis Team based in Wakefield.

You will provide clinical expertise to the team in the support of children, young people and their families. Their team is operational 5 days a week, working 9-5pm. You will work across a 5-day period, supporting the team as detailed below, as per role description.Clinicians on the psychiatry pathway undertake psychiatric assessments with a view to considering clinical indications for a trial of psychotropic medication to treat a diagnosable psychiatric condition. We follow national guidelines such as NICE and British Association for Psychopharmacology recommendations when considering the use of medication under 18 and STOMP (Stopping the Over Medication of Children and Young People with a learning disability, autism or both). The psychiatric pathway supports NICE recommendation regarding first line psychological therapies in the treatment of mental health presentations. Medication maybe considered as second line treatment or in the event of significant risk/acute deterioration in mental health.Role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner -* Duty for Core Treatment waiting list (x1 day per week).* To participate in the prescriber rota.* Supervise NA/CPN.* Support Consultant Psychiatrist.* Create/review NCA, care plans and FIRM risk assessments, minimum quarterly.* Monitor for side effects of medication.* Provide Psychoeducation.* Provide family support and reassurance.* Write reports.* Attend professionals' meetings.* Liaise with other professionals/agencies.* Complete extended referral to specialised therapies as agreed with Psychiatrist.* Deliver prescriptions if needed in emergency.* Support appointments with the Psychiatrist.* Prepare young people for therapy.* Clinical supervision of staff across the service.* Offer consultation prior to a Psychiatry referral being made.
