Health & Wellbeing Officer
V-Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UKs most forward thinking, recognised and respected Multi-Academy Trusts to recruit a temporary Health & Wellbeing Officer for one of their academies based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire as soon as possible.
This is initially a temporary vacancy, which will initially be for a period of 3 months, for sickness cover. This could be extended.
35 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks per year)
Working hours are 8am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday with no work throughout the school holidays
Through V-Recruit you will be paid 12 per hour, plus holiday pay accrued.
Your main duties will be to provide first aid and medical assistance to staff and students during the academy day. You will take the lead on managing medicines and to play a key role in the ongoing health and welfare of students and staff across the academy.
Additional duties will include:
- Producing Individual Healthcare Plans, PEEPS, and Risk Assessments for N Code Children, with support from the inclusion teams for children with SEND.
- Attending to the medical needs of students and staff, providing first aid and signposting to other medical providers where necessary
- Collect medication from students for safe storage and administration
- Liaise with School Health to administer regular programmes of medical, dental, optical and auditory testing and immunisation as required.
- Arrange for students to go to hospital/home/doctors/dentists as necessary
- Ensure accident reports and RIDDOR forms are completed in accordance with the Health & Safety policy and that statistics of accidents are produced on a regular basis
- Provide basic First Aid, health and safety and accident training for staff
- Keeping student medical information up to date
- Keep stock of equipment and materials and order as required, ensuring deliveries are accurate and invoices are correct, within allocated budget
The successful candidate must be a qualified first aider, or willing to complete full First Aid Training with experience in accident reporting, including RIDDOR/HSE reportable accidents, handling medication, and with experience in developing risk assessments. Ideally you will have some experience of working in a school setting, although training can be given.
This is a very busy role, servicing a secondary school with 2500 students, some with complex medical needs (on which specific and thorough training can be given)
The chosen candidate will be personable, compassionate and a good listener, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. We are looking to recruit someone with energy and enthusiasm who will be able to lead and work as an integral part of a busy and hardworking team. Of course, you will need to respect and maintain confidentiality whilst having an excellent understanding of child safeguarding procedures. You First Aid, Handling Medication training, will be paid for/refreshed by the school.
