Join our dedicated team as a Teaching Assistant in Wakefield, where you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about aiding children with challenging behavioural needs, including those diagnosed with ADHD and ASD.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to pupils, helping them with their educational and personal development.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Management Plans.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages pupils to develop social skills and manage their behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for pupils.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of effective strategies to support pupils.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience (direct or transferable) working with children who have challenging behavioural needs.
  • Understanding of conditions such as ADHD and ASD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
