SEMH Teaching Assistant

Reed Education is seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team in Wakefield. This role involves supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who come from challenging and sometimes traumatic backgrounds. These children may display challenging behaviour, and we require individuals with experience in similar roles or sectors such as youth work or young offenders.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role or sector (e.g., youth work, young offenders).
  • Strong character and thick skin to handle challenging behaviour.
  • Team Teach qualification is preferable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
