An incredible opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a thriving SEND school in Wakefield. We are searching for an individual who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs, helping them achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

In this role, you will work closely with teachers, supporting pupils with various needs, including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Your experience and dedication will be crucial in assisting the pupils to engage with the curriculum and in fostering an environment where they feel valued, understood, and able to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND
  • Assisting in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and resources
  • Helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children
  • Offering emotional and social support where needed to encourage personal development
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the teaching staff

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant within an SEND setting is essential
  • A compassionate and patient individual with a genuine desire to support children with special needs
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and behavioural needs
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with the wider school team
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate are desirable but not essential if you have significant experience
