Electrical Engineer / Electrical Improver

Wakefield

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay: Circa £16 - £17 per hour

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer / Electrical Improver to join our maintenance team in Wakefield. Reporting to the Technical Supervisors, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of electrical services and building systems for our valued clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance: Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive work orders on electrical systems, ensuring timely completion.
  • Compliance: Work in line with Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and statutory requirements. Act as a certified Appointed Person for low-voltage critical systems.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Analyze and resolve issues in hospital infrastructure, including low-voltage distribution, emergency lighting, UPS, IPS systems, and standby generators.
  • Reporting: Complete PPM records, task/risk assessments, and test certificates. Update the site CAFM system using electronic devices.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with the wider M&E team, support other trades when required, and supervise subcontractors.
  • Safety & Standards: Ensure all work complies with statutory regulations, site safety protocols, and fire/infection control guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised Electrical/Engineering Apprenticeship (HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • BS7671 (18th Edition) certification.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance, particularly within healthcare or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and CAFM systems.
  • Ability to obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
