Our Local Authority client based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for an Interim Director of their Environmental Services Team asap.

This is a full time, ongoing temporary contract for at least 6 months offering hybrid working and a day rate of between £475 - £550 per day Umbrella LTD (£375 - £430 PAYE)

The purpose of the role is to lead all waste related services and contracts, fleet management and transport operations, countryside management and the maintenance of the councils street scene.

The ares include:

  • Domestic and Commercial Waste Operations
  • Strategic Waste (Waste PFI Contract Lead)
  • Street Cleansing
  • Public Rights of Way
  • Highways Infrastructure
  • Transport Services Fleet Maintenance and Management as well as Passenger Transport
  • Grounds maintenance and countryside management.
  • Flood risk management

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting, developing, promoting and maintaining constructive multi-agency working to ensure the Council can deliver its priorities, overall aims and objectives ensuring the delivery of high quality services that focus on the needs of local people.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Waste collection, recycling and disposal
  • Understanding of how to deliver operational services with the lowest environmental impact.
  • Excellent understanding of both contract and relationship management including negotiating
  • Proven track record of successful leadership.
  • Significant experience of Environmental legislation and in a field related to Environment based services including specifically waste management.
