Our client, a large manufacturing business in Wakefield, seek to appoint a Lean Engineer to improve manufacturing techniques in order to reduce production time per item, remove waste, and increase quality and repeatability. Working alongside multiple departments you will be a good communicator able to quickly integrate.Reporting in to the Manufacturing Manager you will also produce tooling aids for ease of manufacture with your competent CAD skills and be the point of contact within the lean function to answer queries on manufacturing engineering for the quality, production, maintenance and design departments. The ideal Lean Engineer will come from a fast moving high volume manufacturing background and have experience of traditional engineering processes: machining, fabrication, welding, precision metal workLean Engineer - Role & Responsibilities - Production Engineer, CAD, Lean, Fabrication, Welding - Address root causes of process and yield issues. Work with quality department and understand 4D/8D/Root Cause Analysis. Implement CAPA - Work with test department to maintain test equipment - Increase OEE and reduce downtime. Work with maintenance and advise on TPM/PPM - Make improvements to processes and production techniques. Work with production to reduce lead times, improve tooling and changeovers, and drive greater performance from existing staff. Observe assembly staff and assess for ergonomic issues with operators - Lead Design Reviews and report back to R&D to allow the design of easily manufacturable products - Liaise with Lean Engineers. Knowledge of SMED/POKE YOKE techniquesLean Engineer - Skills & Abilities - Production Engineer, CAD, Lean, Fabrication, Welding - Extensive experience of production engineering: layout, continuous flow, SMED, CAPEX, planning, capacity modelling/simulation, costing - Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement knowledge. Six Sigma training preferred but not essential - HND/Degree qualified in Production or Manufacturing Engineering - Knowledge of traditional manufacturing: welding, fabrication, machining, precision metal work
