A national architecture practice is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join their Wakefield office and play a key role in their growing team. With seven offices across the UK and a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects, this is a unique opportunity to join a leading practice during an exciting phase of expansion.

The Principal Designer Role

In this role, you will manage all aspects of Principal Designer duties, working closely with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver projects that meet the highest health and safety standards. You'll provide expert advice, ensure design risk is managed effectively, and contribute to project success across a variety of sectors. With opportunities for mentoring junior team members and collaborating with colleagues across the UK, this is a fantastic role for an experienced professional seeking career growth.

Principal Designer Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on design risk management and health and safety.
  • Serve as the client's main point of contact for CDM-related advice on a wide variety of projects.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to ensure effective collaboration and compliance.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team to ensure high standards of service delivery.

The Principal Designer

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification (NEBOSH Diploma desirable).
  • Extensive experience as a Principal Designer or in a related health and safety role.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and design risk management.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
  • Experience in producing fee proposals and managing project invoicing is desirable.
