As a family-owned business with a turnover of £30 million and a dedicated team of 170 employees, our client takes pride in delivering high-quality projects while maintaining a supportive and collaborative workplace.

Due to continued growth and success, they are seeking an experienced and motivated SHEQ Advisor to join their team and contribute to their commitment to safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. You will work closely with the SHEQ Manager and a SHEQ Admin Assistant, supporting the delivery of projects across Yorkshire with a focus on Yorkshire Water Frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • SHEQ Compliance and Audits: Conduct inspections, audits, and investigations, producing actionable reports and root cause analysis to drive improvements.
  • Training and Awareness: Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, inductions, and contribute to the development and communication of best practices and policies.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend solutions to maintain compliance and enhance working processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the company in SHEQ meetings, forums, and audits, while maintaining corporate certifications and contributing to bid responses and PQQs.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide detailed monthly SHEQ performance reports, newsletters, and data to support the SHEQ Manager and wider business.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Working understanding of ISO management standards, particularly ISO 18001/45001.
  • Practical experience in construction, utilities, or highways sectors, with strong health and safety knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and excellent communication skills.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Driving Licence: Full, clean UK driving licence is essential.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum.
  • Car Allowance: £6,480 per annum, with fuel provided.
  • Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
