Requirement - Person who can drive and have UK driving license is preferred.

A Care Assistant provides essential support to individuals who require assistance due to age, illness, or disability. They work in various settings, including care homes, hospitals, residential facilities, or private homes. The primary goal of a Care Assistant is to ensure the well-being, comfort, and dignity of those in their care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Personal Care:

    • Assist with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
    • Help individuals with mobility, including transferring from beds to wheelchairs, and ensuring safe movement.
    • Support with continence care, changing bed linens, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  2. Health Monitoring:

    • Record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
    • Report any changes in health, behavior, or well-being to senior healthcare professionals.
    • Assist with basic medical tasks like applying dressings under supervision.
  3. Medication Assistance:

    • Support clients in taking prescribed medications at the correct times, as directed by healthcare professionals.
    • Ensure that all medication is administered following the care plan.
  4. Emotional and Social Support:

    • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging them in conversation and activities to reduce loneliness.
    • Encourage clients to participate in social or leisure activities within the care facility or in the community.
  5. Meal Preparation and Feeding:

    • Assist with meal planning and preparation, taking into account any dietary restrictions or preferences.
    • Help clients with eating and drinking if they are unable to do so independently.
  6. Household Duties:

    • Assist with basic housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a tidy living environment.
    • Help with errands, such as grocery shopping or collecting prescriptions.
  7. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, including logs of personal care, health monitoring, and any incidents.
    • Ensure that care plans are followed and updated regularly.
  8. Adherence to Care Plans:

    • Follow individual care plans tailored to each clients specific needs.
    • Adapt care approaches based on client preferences and feedback from healthcare professionals.
  9. Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations:

    • Follow infection control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Adhere to the policies and guidelines set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other relevant authorities.
Skills and Attributes Required:
  • Compassion and Empathy: Ability to relate to and care for people from various backgrounds with sensitivity.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication to interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Patience and Flexibility: Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and a calm demeanor.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow care plans meticulously and record care accurately.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, assisting with mobility, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Training: Mandatory training in first aid, safeguarding, moving and handling, infection control, and medication administration.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a care environment is beneficial but not always necessary. Many Care Assistants receive on-the-job training.
  • Certifications: A Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is advantageous and may be required for certain roles.
  • DBS Check: A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory for working in care settings.
Working Conditions:
  • Environment: Care Assistants work in care homes, residential facilities, hospitals, or clients' homes.
  • Shifts: May include day, night, weekend, or holiday shifts, depending on the care settings needs.
