Welding Inspector – £36,000 to £40,000

Are you an experienced Welding Inspector looking to join a secure and growing engineering company with long-term projects guaranteed? This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a business known for delivering high-quality, bespoke fabrications across industries.
 

The Role:

As a Welding Inspector, you’ll ensure the highest quality standards across a wide range of fabrications, including structural steelwork and large-scale assemblies. You’ll be responsible for weld inspectionsnon-destructive testing (NDT), and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001PD5500, and EN 1090 standards. Working closely with production teams, you’ll identify and resolve non-conformances, inspect final fabrications, and produce detailed reports. Occasionally, you’ll visit client sites for inspections and testing.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct weld inspections and NDT, including DPI and MPI.
  • Perform pressure testing (air and hydro) to verify structural integrity.
  • Inspect fabrications against technical drawings and customer specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO 9001 and EN 1090.
  • Write detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, production teams, and auditors to uphold quality standards.

What They’re Looking For:

  • PCN Level 2 certification in DPI and MPI (current accreditation required).
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes and associated defects.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Desirable Skills:

  • CSWIP 3.0/3.1 certification or equivalent welding inspection qualifications.
  • Experience in pressure testing and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with advanced standards like ASME or AWS D1.1.
  • Engineering qualifications such as HNC/HND in Mechanical or Welding Engineering.
