Pay: £90 - £100 per day
Start Date: February Half Term

PK Education is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a wonderful communication provision within a primary school. We are looking for an Integrated Resource Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a supportive, inclusive environment for primary-aged pupils with autism and profound communication and language difficulties. Most of the pupils are non-verbal, and your role will be pivotal in helping them engage with learning, communication, and social interactions.

As an Integrated Resource Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside skilled professionals in a small, specialist team to provide tailored support to pupils. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with children who have complex needs and is looking to make a real difference in their educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and communication/language difficulties, supporting their access to the curriculum and social inclusion.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualised learning plans and interventions to promote progress in communication, social skills, and academic learning.
  • Use alternative communication methods, including AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), Makaton, and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), to support non-verbal pupils in expressing their needs and participating in lessons.
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals to create a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Provide personal care and support where needed, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the pupils at all times.
  • Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and confidence, promoting an inclusive environment where pupils feel valued and supported.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with autism or communication/language difficulties, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
  • Understanding of non-verbal communication and experience using alternative communication systems such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with a genuine passion for working with children with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of professionals.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Ideally, a background in education, child development, or a related field, though training and support will be provided.

This long-term role offers the chance to work in an incredibly rewarding environment with a fantastic team. The position is full-time, and for the right person, there is a permanent opportunity to join the school. You will make a profound impact on the lives of children with unique needs and support them in reaching their full potential.
