Reed Education is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in primary schools throughout the Wakefield area. This role offers the chance to make a significant difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to achieve their full potential in a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage a positive atmosphere, promoting self-confidence and independence among students.
  • Track and document student progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents.
  • Offer assistance with personal care and mobility needs as required, ensuring student well-being.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic approach, and a strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the diverse needs of students.
