We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support Year 4 pupils in a Primary School based in the Featherstone area of Wakefield, to start straight after the Easter holidays on a long term basis. The role involves providing personalized assistance to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), working closely with teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive and empowering learning environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide personalized support to pupils, attending to their social, health, hygiene, and first aid needs.
  • Assist with moving and handling, hoisting, and personal care for students.
  • Adapt teaching materials and activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Offer clerical/administrative support to teachers, including photocopying, typing, filing, and record keeping.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) or other pupil-specific plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupilsā€™ progress and maintain accurate pupil records.
  • Utilize specialist knowledge to support pupilsā€™ learning and collaborate with parents, carers, and professional staff.
  • Promote the integration of pupils with their peers and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident.
  • Willingness to travel to the school location.
  • Overseas criminal clearance or willingness to apply for one.
  • Child enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
  • Minimum of six months UK residency.
  • Not accepting applicants on skilled worker visas.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
