We are looking to recruit an experienced communications professional, on a six-month temporary basis, to work alongside our Communications Officer.

The role requires someone who has strong written and verbal communication skills, who is confident and competent in handling media enquiries and has a flair for producing content that is engaging. Experience working in a police or aviation environment would be an advantage but not essential.

The ideal candidate must have at least two years experience of working in a corporate communications environment, have a strong understanding of media law, in particular around Contempt of Court, privacy and data protection legislation, experience working in a police or aviation environment would be an advantage but not essential. The successful candidate will be able to evidence the appropriate skills and knowledge to:

  • Write and distribute content to promote the work of the National Police Air Service to key stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Act as a liaison between NPAS and the media and respond confidently and appropriately to requests from journalists.
  • Create content, such as publications, website content, press releases, annual reports and other marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with managers to develop and implement communications strategies.
  • Develop and manage social media communications

The role can be carried out remotely but there will be a requirement to travel to NPAS HQ and bases from time to time.
