About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Wakefield. This role involves teaching on Thursdays and Fridays, starting February 24th. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that inspire a love for science, support student progress, and prepare learners for their academic journey.

Position Details

Location: Wakefield

Contract: Part time (Thursday and Friday)

Pay Rate: £150 - £223 per day (UPS rates will be considered)

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Differentiate lessons to accommodate varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams through targeted teaching and support.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings, contributing to school-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Science department to develop innovative teaching strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress.
  • Take part in extracurricular activities and Science-related events.
  • Manage laboratory resources and ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Encourage and reward positive student behaviour and effort.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students exploring Science-based careers.
