About the Role: As a Behavior Support Worker, you will work closely with students in schools across Wakefield. Your primary responsibility will be to support students with challenging behavior, helping them to engage positively in their learning environment. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create tailored strategies that promote positive behavior and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavior Management: Implement behavior management plans, ensuring consistency and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • De-escalation: Use effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations and prevent escalation.
  • Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them develop coping strategies and social skills.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and external agencies to create personalized support plans.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress, and interventions.
  • Training: Attend relevant training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Direct or transferable experience working with challenging behavior in educational settings.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field are desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
    • Ability to adapt to different situations and student needs.
    • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Availability: Must be available during school hours (term-time only).
