Housing Options Advisor

6-month contract

Job Overview:
To undertake housing options assessments and deliver housing options advice and assistance, ensuring the clients meets its statutory responsibilities to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or in housing need.

Housing Options Advisor Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct holistic housing need assessments for homeless, potentially homeless, or housing-needy individuals, identifying barriers and support needs.
  • Make relevant third-party enquiries to gather necessary information for case details.
  • Manage a caseload, maintaining accurate and timely case notes and updates in in-house systems.
  • Prevent or delay homelessness by negotiating with housing providers and undertaking financial assessments.
  • Develop and review statutory housing plans, ensuring compliance with legislation, guidance, and good practice.
  • Provide service users with a full appraisal of their situation, offering realistic and sensitive advice, and updating them on application progress.
  • Complete applications for financial assistance and process payments/invoices in accordance with financial regulations.
  • Support service users in accessing welfare benefits to maximize income for retaining or gaining housing.


Housing Options Advisor Essential Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in a Housing Options Advisor role.
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and engage in lone working situations.


The Package
This is a temporary, Housing Options Advisor role,40 hours per week for an initial 3 months, covering the recruitment process for a permanent team member, meaning the role could be extended, or become permanent.
