  • A successful online retailer is looking for a talented backend PHP developer to join their existing team in the Web & Marketing department.
  • Your primary focus will be development and maintenance of new and existing systems built in Laravel and CakePHP.

  • Responsibilities include working with the existing team to develop and maintain systems in Laravel and CakePHP, working cross departmentally with different areas of the business, improving the performance of the eCommerce websites, collaborating with front-end developers, and taking lead on projects.
  • Required skills include strong communication and analytical skills, object oriented development, experience with PHP & relational databases, experience with MVC frameworks such as Laravel or CakePHP, familiarity with building and consuming APIs, strong attention to detail, and willingness to challenge the status quo.

Responsibilities As a PHP Developer

? Working with the existing team to develop and maintain systems in Laravel and CakePHP.? Working cross departmentally with different areas of the business - Marketing, Graphic design, Customer service, Purchasing, Trends and Production? To improve the performance of the eCommerce websites in terms of aesthetics, functionality and conversion rates.? Work collaboratively as part of a team - developing in house systems to aid in productivity and profitability? Adopting new technologies and techniques? Advancing your own career by learning and developing your technical knowledge.? Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establishobjectives and design functional & cohesive code to enhance the user experience.? Taking lead on projects, as needed.

As a PHP Developer you’ll have….

  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Object oriented development
  • Experience with PHP & relational databases (MySQL or similar)
  • Experience of using (at least one) MVC frameworks such as Laravel or CakePHP
  • Familiarity of working with building and consuming APIs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player - must be able to work effectively
  • both individually and as part of a team
  • Passion and interest in programming
  • Passion and interest in e-commerce and online retail
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo - thinking outside of the box and continually seeking ways to improve efficiency by changing the way in which we work to benefit team and the Company
  • Experience of using code versioning software e.g Git SVN
