Key Responsibilities of an Interventions Learning Support Assistant:
- Deliver structured learning interventions on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, ensuring pupils receive tailored support to improve their literacy, numeracy, and overall academic progress.
- Use evidence-based intervention strategies (e.g., Read Write Inc., Catch Up Literacy, Numicon) to support students in their learning development.
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to track pupil progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, boosting students’ confidence and motivation in their learning.
- Support students with additional learning needs, ensuring they have access to interventions suited to their abilities.
- Assist in creating learning resources and engaging activities that support academic development.
The Ideal Interventions Learning Support Assistant Will Have:
- Experience supporting interventions within a primary school setting.
- A strong understanding of phonics, literacy, and numeracy programs to support early learning development.
- A passion for helping children develop their skills and confidence.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with children, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, can-do attitude.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
