Do you want to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a nurturing primary school environment?
We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our Specialist SEN Hub, managed by Wakefield Council. Our hub provides a highly supportive setting for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional complex needs, ensuring they receive the personalised care and education they deserve.
About the Role:
As an LSA, you will:
- Support students with EHCPs (Educational Health Care Plans) who have ASD and additional SEND needs
- Work in busy classrooms, providing hands-on support in a structured setting
- Assist with personal care and feeding as part of the daily routine
- Help create an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning and care plans
What we’re looking for?
- Have experience, or a passion for working with students with additional needs, especially Autism.
- Have knowledge or understanding of how to support children with SEN and SEMH
- Be flexible, proactive and patient
- Be nurturing in their approach and interventions
- Be able to communicate effectively within a team
- Have a background in Education, Care, Social work, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.

- Has a caring, patient, and understanding nature
- Is open to learning about SEMH & ASD and how to support students effectively
- Can build strong relationships and gain students' trust
- Is adaptable, flexible, and has a good sense of humour
