SEN Teaching Assistant - Wakefield Area
Veritas Education is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to fill several positions in the Wakefield area. The successful candidate will work closely with the Teacher and pupils to provide tailored support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs. These roles are available on either a part-time or full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a class of 6-10 students, assisting the teacher in delivering lessons and activities.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to plan and deliver customized learning materials.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, adapting the approach to meet individual needs.
- Assist students with social, emotional, and communication development.
- Track student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (preferably in an educational setting, though not essential).
- Knowledge of SEN and strategies for managing a variety of student needs.
- Strong patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing challenging behavior using a range of strategies.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to students' emotional and physical reactions.
Requirements:
- Clear Enhanced DBS check.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Photo identification.
- Two satisfactory references.
- Police check (if applicable).
- Experience working with children or adults with Special Educational Needs.
