Day-to-day of the role:

  • Individual Support: Provide tailored support to pupils with EHCPs, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Educational Assistance: Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver holistic education.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents.
  • Daily Activities: Support pupils with daily activities, including personal care if required.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare learning materials and resources.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in schools or relevant transferable experience.
  • Understanding of SEN and experience with pupils with complex needs, SEMH, challenging behaviour, and PMLD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
