Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with an exceptional SEND School in Wakefield, currently seeking a passionate and experienced SCERTS Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with complex needs, using the SCERTS framework to support communication, emotional regulation, and transactional support.

About the Role: As a SCERTS Teacher, you will be working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities, particularly those with autism and communication difficulties. Your role will focus on the implementation of the SCERTS model, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to individual needs using the SCERTS framework
  • Develop and implement personalised learning programmes to support pupils' communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including therapists and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's education
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, making adjustments to their educational plans as needed
  • Engage with parents and carers to support their child's development both in school and at home

The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a qualified teacher with:

  • Proven experience working with SEND pupils, particularly using the SCERTS approach
  • Strong understanding of autism, communication strategies, and emotional regulation techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A passion for inclusive education and making a positive impact in the lives of children with special needs
