Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forklift Driver to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to load, unload, and pack goods into lorries for distribution. This is a role that requires precision, efficiency, and attention to safety protocols. The ideal candidate must also have a full UK driving licence to collect goods prior to loading.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a forklift to load and unload materials and products in a safe and efficient manner.
- Pack goods and products into lorries according to delivery requirements.
- Ensure that items are securely loaded to prevent damage during transportation.
- Collect goods from designated locations prior to loading, using a vehicle (must have a full UK driving licence).
- Conduct routine checks on forklift equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the Warehouse Manager.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, tracking items loaded and unloaded.
- Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as required, such as stock organisation or palletising items.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid forklift certification (counterbalance and reach truck experience preferred).
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and pack goods into lorries.
- Full UK driving licence to collect goods prior to loading.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to forklift operation.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling goods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with loading and unloading different types of products (e.g., perishable goods, fragile items).
- Experience in warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking systems.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting for forklifts.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position with potential for overtime as needed.
- The work is conducted in a warehouse environment, with some outdoor work required during loading/unloading.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, if needed.
