Phonics Intervention Lead Role & Responsibilities:
- Work with children who may be struggling with phonics, reading or lack language skills
- Support pupils to apply comprehension strategies independently to reading tasks, contexts and subjects
- Plan and deliver 1-1 reading interventions suitable for primary aged children
- Carefully select texts to match each student’s reading level, these texts are used in targeted lessons where you will work with students to improve their comprehension skills
- Work with the teacher in intervention planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/plans as appropriate
- Deliver catch-up sessions
Skills/Experience required:
- Experience working with children in the last two years
- A strong understanding and knowledge of phonics and different schemes, for example; Read, Write, Inc, Jolly Phonics, Floppy Phonics etc
- Be creative in using a variety of resources like flashcards, interactive games, or hands-on activities to reinforce concepts
- Must have a passion for education
- An understanding of and commitment to safeguarding children
