We have positions available for Level 2 Coating Inspector to join our client’s team in the Wallsend area.

The position is for an immediate start and likely to be until 2025 and beyond. Possible permanent opportunities available.  The pay rate will be competitive and dependant on experience.  As an Coating Inspector you will be required to work Monday – Saturday 07:00hrs – 17.50hrs (42 hours) with the potential for overtime.

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Coating Inspector to ensure the quality and integrity of coatings applied to various surfaces, structures, or equipment. The Coating Inspector will play a critical role in upholding industry standards and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality results. Key Responsibilities:• Conduct thorough inspections of coatings to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.• Monitor coating application processes, surface preparation, and curing to maintain quality standards.• Prepare detailed reports and documentation of inspection findings, including photographs and test results.• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and environmental regulations related to coating materials and processes.• Verify proper surface preparation methods and cleanliness prior to coating application.• Detect and report any coating defects, such as blisters, pinholes, or uneven application, and recommend corrective actions.• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to protect yourself and others during inspections and while on-site.• Collaborate with project managers, coating contractors, and other stakeholders to provide feedback and ensure project success.• Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and new coating materials to improve inspection processes.

Qualifications:• Possession of relevant coating inspection certifications ICATS Protective Coatings Applicator or ECITB Skills • CCNSG Safety Passport or CSCS (required)• ICATS (preferred)• OPITO (preferred)• ICORR Level 2

Experience• The ideal candidate will have previous experience (minimum one year) in painting / blasting positions, ideally in a heavy engineering environment.• A solid understanding of coating materials, application techniques, and related equipment.• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and inconsistencies in coatings.• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey inspection findings and collaborate with project teams.• A commitment to adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.• Proficiency in identifying and resolving coating-related issues and challenges.• Ability to work outdoors, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods, often in adverse weather conditions.
